Crossing can be fraught with peril and high adventure.

Bridges, logs across streams and other forms of crossing can be potent symbols. We cross from one side or one state of being to another....from one place to another.....this is part of the hero/heroine journey. Sometimes these crossings are guarded by dangerous creatures, like dragons or trolls, that put us to the test before letting us cross from this world to the next. If we aren't ready they do us in. Remember the bridge in "The Man Who Would Be King?"
