Old Slaves Quarters, Salvador de Bahia, Brazil

I was wandering through the streets of Bahia with my incredible guide, Francois Duc. We decided to visit a cathedral to get out of the scorching sun and take a look around. Not being a 'tour' person interest was fading fast while I got bored stiff, so we started walking out. I noticed a flight of stairs heading down into darkness and we were on our way. The lower regions of this building are abandoned, dark and creepy. Suddenly a figure went darting past in my peripheral vision - it turned out to be an elderly woman that had lived in this part of the church for the last 20 years. She said that part of it was an old slaves quarters.
